While our primary focus is research and evaluation, because of their nature, scale, urgency and/or associated risks, some problems may require immediate advice or a strategic and/or operational response. We get that, and our consultancy offering may better meet your needs.

Dr Iain Matheson has almost 20 years of management consulting experience. He is qualified as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), and is a long-time member, and now Fellow, of the Institute of Management Consultants New Zealand. Also, his company Matheson Associates Limited has been a member of the New Zealand All-of-Government consulting services panel (for both policy, research and development, and operations management and risk) since it was formed in 2015. However, what particularly sets us apart is how we blend this with expertise in national and international statutory child welfare and out-of-home care leadership, policy, and practice, along with our strong evidence-informed orientation. In addition to his child welfare strategy, leadership and research experience, Iain has, as well as a doctorate in education (EdD), postgraduate qualifications in social work, child protection, social services management, and social sector research and evaluation.

Iain can also be retained as a strategic advisor and/or subject matter expert.
